Kányavári Island
The lush, green area of Kányavári Island is open to visitors year-round. The island is surrounded by the Zala River and the western reservoir of Kis-Balaton, and can be accessed via a special wooden bridge, which has become a symbol of Kis-Balaton.
The 15-stop Búbos Vöcsök Educational Trail helps visitors navigate the island, stretching about 1.5 km, making it easy to explore in about an hour. The informational signs along the trail showcase the diverse bird species living here, and with a bit of luck, we may even witness the most magnificent representatives of the rich birdlife.
In the center of the island, there is a multi-level wooden birdwatching station, offering a stunning view of the surrounding landscape. If we're observant enough, we might even spot birds swimming on the water or hiding in the reeds from above. At the end of the tour, children can enjoy a brand-new playground, where parents can also relax. The island offers rest and campfire spots, with places for grilling sausages and benches for hikers to rest.
